About the Practice
Meet Rahim Skinner
LCMHC, C-DBT
Choosing a therapist is personal. You deserve someone who understands both the clinical side of mental health and the real-world challenges people face every day.
Rahim Skinner is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified DBT therapist with deep experience serving adolescents, young adults, families, and system-involved youth across North Carolina.
His background spans direct clinical practice, behavioral health leadership, therapeutic foster care, and higher education — a combination that is genuinely rare and brings uncommon depth to every session.

My Approach
How I Work With Clients
I believe meaningful change comes from structured sessions with clear, measurable goals — not just open-ended conversation. My work is collaborative: you set the direction, and I provide the framework to get you there.
Using DBT as a foundation, sessions focus on building practical skills — emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness — while also holding space for the depth and complexity of your unique story.
I do this work because I have seen what happens when people get the right support at the right time. I believe in the capacity for change in every person I work with — and I bring that conviction to every session.

Qualifications & Edge
Why Clients Choose Piedmont Therapy & Wellness
These are the differentiators that matter — not just credentials, but real-world experience that informs every session.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a skill-based, structured approach. You will build real tools for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
